This year was the birth of my interest in the hyperreal and the beginning of my obsession with distortion. This year marked the inception of my fascination with the hyperreal and the onset of my deep dive into distortion. I dedicated my time to experimenting with and refining this new stylistic approach, which now defines my painting language. Fueled by Hito Steyerl’s concept of the ‘poor image,’ I carried this idea from conceptual exploration to its practical application in Florence, Italy. There, I immersed my contemporary practice in the rich historical tapestry of the Italian Renaissance, creating a dialogue between these two seemingly disparate influences. This synthesis of past and present continues to inform and inspire my work, as I explore how distortion and hyperreality reshape our perceptions of both image and memory.
